Most American or English high school graduates are sometimes labeled a Chicken Nugget or a McChicken. To be honest with you I don’t really know the difference between the two and as a graduate from the aforementioned schools it doesn’t really bother me. These labels can be a source of embarrassment for the recipient, a social stigma if you will.

The reason for these labels is most probably because the majority of the foreign school graduates are not, let’s say, 100% fluent in Arabic. Allow me to explain, many mispronounced words or jumbled up phrases are used by the ‘Chicken Nuggets’ that might seem funny to older generations or even to those with a public school education.

Twitter the fairly new social website that’s booming here in Kuwait, although its been booming since 2007 across the world specifically in the states. what im seeing now on a regular basis a lot of Kuwaitis are joining twitter and tweeting, whenever im surfing the internet i see this Follow us on twitter banner on the bottom. alot of companies are entering this new market of informing their customers about their offers or news.

even in the 4thringroad dewaniya our friends are on twitter and cant leave their phones, twitter already have different channel for you to tweet or follow tweets, you got the normal website twitter.com, then comes the twitter app for iphones/ipad and blackberry, the latest channel you can use twitter is Twitter SMS with Zain. we all use Twitter to follow friends/celebrities and our subject here the world cup. what happened last Wednesday /Thursday(the build up for the world cup) and Friday was incredible, people at twitter knew whats going to happen or maybe they thought so, they already have 65million tweets per day, coming from 190million users!

guess what WC2010 caught twitter by surprise, the site couldn’t handle the traffic when the tournament kicked off last Friday (we got the FAIL WHALE of twitter pic below), and we still see this whenever there is a closely watched matches, as a lot who are not in front of the TV watching the games go to twitter to get the latest updates about the world cup. Apparently twitter are having a hard time now to fix the issues but it seems its going to take time to do so.

well to be honest i don’t blame them, you have 32 countries battling it out on the center stage, everyone has his team everyone wants to get the latest news about his team or others. plus WC is the biggest organized human event on the planet. if you love or hate Brazil for example no matter what you will be watching the games as the world cup atmosphere is unbelievable.  tweets are reaching 250,000 per hr about the world cup, lets just hope they get their stuff up before we reach the last 16 round. after all we don’t want our twitter to be stopped right waleed-abdulrahman-O.K-fahad r?? :)

All of you already know about the proposed ban on Blackberry services in Kuwait. The furore started a few days ago when the idea was announced, the Telecoms companies were supposedly told to either give alternatives or they would be forced to stop giving the service.

The ministry’s reason is that they cannot monitor or regulate the messages sent through the BBM service. They fear that the BBM could pose a threat to national security. Now I can’t really fault them for trying to make us sleep safely each night but to be honest with you I’m not really convinced it would solve the problem. What about other internet chatting services such as MSN messenger and WhatsApp? Don’t they also allow the forwarding of potentially dangerous messages? Since most phones are now connected to the internet then these chatting services can be easily installed right?

Let’s assume that Blackberry’s are banned, I would easily replace my Blackberry with any other smartphone and install MSN messenger, was the ministry successful in preventing me from receiving what is considered unsafe messages? I don’t think so. I think that if the aforementioned unsafe message have reached its target audience then the damage is already done, what’s the point of regulating or monitoring the conversations if the message was already distributed? Deterrence? I’m not really convinced.

Are they being overprotective? Definitely
Did they really think this through? I doubt it

What do you guys think??

It takes a lot of persuasion to let me go to the Avenues mall on a weekend after dark. The reason for this is that when the sun sets in Kuwait, night creatures start to rise and prowl around in the popular malls of Kuwait. You know what I mean, the so-called ‘alien mu7ajababes’ and the spiky-haired weirdos with a fashion sense that even puts Boy George to shame. I will concentrate on the guys in this post, mu7ajababes can breathe a sigh of relief :p

I went to the Avenues to catch a movie with some friends but we were unfortunate enough to park in Phase 2 and were forced to walk the length of the mall. What we saw is just a sample of these creatures. A guy wearing skin tight black jeans, a plain white t-shirt (collarless), a shiny black sleeveless jacket AND a shiny black tie. Oh, I also forgot to mention the spiky mowhawk. Thanks, my eyes are bleeding because of you. One of my friends witnessed an attempt by a guy to impress a girl, by pulling on her hair. What are they trying to prove? Oh and add to that the new phrases, ‘fedaitik’ and whatnot.

That title was used in an article in today’s Al Qabas newspaper. The reason for this title is because it was rumored that Oprah recently said: “In Kuwait, Egyptians build the houses, the Indians clean the streets, the Filipinos raise their children, the Indonesians cook the food and the Americans handle defense while they just act like Paris Hiltons.”

I tried googling this and the only relevant result is from a forum post in Oprah’s official site titled ‘Kuwaitis Say Back

Now I don’t know if she really said this and I actually have trouble believing that Oprah could say something as inconsiderate as this.

What do you guys think?
Can anyone find any proof or refute this claim?
