I drove to that part a couple of weeks ago and the access to the road was still closed since the approach road towards the bride was not yet complete.
But I still do not know if it will be open to public.

Also note the red board in the first pic – Military area: Do not approach.
I guess that means civilians can’t use it still.

    Hello
I asked a friend of mine working in ash’3al and he told me this :

guys, this is an old bridge, which was built in the 80’s and got damaged during the gulf war and then it was rebuilt in early 90s, its for military use only and whoever wants to get there has to get a permit from the ministry of defence.
ministry of public works is currently building two more bridges ( 1 carway, 1 railway ) about 1 kilometer north from this existing one. they will be used for the new seaport in boubyan.

I went there during Eid holidays after a trip to Mutla. The bridge is complete but theres a military check post and they politely told me theres no access to civilians :(

It used to be controlled by the Ministry of Interior, and then few years back was handed over the Ministry of Defense. Back then it was kinda easy crossing it, but now under the military controls its not.

I do agree that you’re not missing anything in Boubyan, but crossing the bridge itself is worth the trip alone.
